Why should I care?

"Yes, why should I?" - that's what I was wondering about not so long ago. I simply did not care about the European Parliament or, to be more specific, the European Union. As an Austrian I just took being European for granted, being part of the union itself, for granted. I never thought about what that meant though, for me all this "political mumbo-jumbo" seemed so far away, almost unreachable.
It also seemed to me like all political issues the European Parliament was dealing with with more important issues than the "first-world problems" some Austrians might have.

Oat biscuits2 cups oats (Sometimes muesli also goes quite well, depending on the brand)
180g butter, margarine, or oil, softened
1 cup raw sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup plain flour
¾ tsp baking powder

1 cup of raisins, cranberries, or chocolate chips (If you are using dried fruit it’s best to marinate them in boiling water for a long while before putting them into the mixture)
